Steampunk - Papercraft Star

Hi there! Today challenge 60 opens at Papercraft Star. This week the challenge is Steampunk! Use something metal, or try a full fledged steampunk theme. Here is a photo for inspiration.

I myself have never attempted steampunk before but I have to say, it was fun! I decided to create two projects this week. I enjoy most any type of crafting including jewelry, so today I have a necklace along with a card to share.

For both projects I used the Steampunk Elements digi sheet (081) from theHouseAcrosstheBay. The images are fun and bright giving a metal feel.

For the card I used 4 of the images matted on metallic silver card stock popping up two of the images to add dimension. The base of the card is black with some patter paper from the Seasonal Papers collection by Tim Holtz. Then I just added some hemp twine to set the card off. This card was super simple and I love the masculine feel.

For the necklace I used a lot of Tim Holtz products. I used one of the faces from the steampunk elements digi sheet and made it to where her eye showed through the key hole. I used alcohol inks, E6000 glue and Tim's ideaology line to get the desired look. I layered some gears, a muse token and a spinner to add as a "charm," this adds a fun look but also makes the charm reversible!

I had a ton of fun creating both projects! If you have never done steampunk or if you are a seasoned pro, I encourage you to join us for challenge 60 this week at Papercraft Star!

Thank you for stopping by,
Regan

Regan this is so awesome! My favorite is the eye looking thru the key hole! Such a little detail that gives a big impression. The card is great too. Love the way you popped up some of the images.
